Our annual report: Investing in the power of communities

The Providence family of organizations is very proud to release our latest annual report. As you scroll through the pages of our 2021 report, you’ll get to meet some of the inspiring individuals we had the privilege to serve last year, as well as the caregivers and community partners who helped us bring our Mission to more people in need.

With 2021 representing the second year of the pandemic, it was fraught with challenges. Yet Providence caregivers and our partners continued to step up, responding with courage, compassion and love. Together, we cared for thousands of patients with COVID-19 and provided testing, vaccines and other resources in a variety of settings, from mass vaccination sites to pop-up locations – always with special attention to those in underserved communities.

Amid the challenges, our commitment to our communities has never been stronger. We are incredibly proud that our investment in community benefit has continued to grow each year since the pandemic began. In 2021, we provided $1.9 billion in uncompensated care and other community services, which is $366 million more than we provided in 2019.

In every region we serve, our teams found new and more equitable ways to bring needed care and services to our patients and our broader communities. Woven throughout this report, you’ll learn about some of the many ways we are working to reduce disparities in health care through our $50 million commitment to health equity.

Whether through financial assistance, telehealth, research, community clinics, education, housing, food banks, advocacy or disaster relief, we continued to meet the diverse needs of our dear neighbors. Thank you to our caregivers and local partners for continuing to make a measurable difference and helping us realize our vision of health for a better world.
